BWIN – the world’s largest online gaming company – is Matchstick Events’ newest client.  The Austrian-based company is bringing 100 delegates from around the world to Melbourne to participate in the Aussie Millions Poker Tournament at Crown Casino and has engaged Matchstick Events to manage its corporate entertainment program.  In total, 6 discreet events will be managed over a 10 day period.  Events include a Welcome Dinner and Nightclub Event, an Amazing Race around Melbourne, a day at St Kilda Beach complete with a BBQ lunch, beach volleyball, DJ, stand up paddle boarding and kiteboarding;  lunch and wine tasting in the Yarra Valley and a Farewell Cocktail Party.

Matchstick Events was engaged by the Australian Abruzzo Earthquake Appeal to provide event management services for two major events.  Events included the Italian Community Gala Dinner with special guest, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on the eve of his visit to earthquake ravaged region of Abruzzo for the G8 Summit and the official Appeal Fundraising Gala held at the Peninsula, Docklands which was attended by 1,100 people.  Event services included speaker and MC brief and speech writing, consultancy advice on event programming and a range of media relations activities.

 

Matchstick Events provided a range of event management services for the 2009 Melbourne Italian Festival held from 22 May to 7 June.  Services provided ranged from venue liaison and negotiation, to event marketing and publicity and development and distribution of event collateral. Some of the events included a festival launch, exhibition, two gala dinner events including the Australian final of Miss Italy In The World 2009 and a one-day outdoor event at Piazza Italia (Argyle Square), Carlton.  More than 50,000 Victorians took part in the celebrations.

 

Matchstick Events managed The Big Gelicious Weekend for Richmond’s new gelato café, Gelicious.  Held across an entire weekend, the event featured a series of activities and promotions (for kids and ‘big’ kids!) and raised funds for the Victorian Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.   

 

Matchstick Events was engaged by The Launch Box to assist with event management of the Whittlesea live site for the National Day of Mourning Service, hosted by the Victorian Government to mark Black Saturday 2009.
